I had a lot of fun in NOLA (New Orleans, LA). I met my mom’s-friend’s-son, I saw a great street performance, and I had the best beignets. Now you get to hear all about it.

Our story starts before we even arrived at the campground. About four hours after we left Montgomery, AL when it started to drizzle. We thought nothing of it until it was pouring and we still had more than hour left before we arrived at the campground, so that means it would have probably taken another two hours to get there, and it was very late. We pulled off the highway and stayed the night at a campground called Magic River Campground, where the water table was at like ground level, it was so high and I was freaked out until we left the next day.

Our campsite was in the French Quarter, FQRV campground, and right next to the highway. It was a pretty good campground, despite the highway sounds. It was nicely paved and I wouldn’t mind going back. When we first pulled up to the campground I thought, “Man this is nice.” And, “I wonder if they have activities inside?” And, “What are those spiky things on the 6’ tall wall?” And, “I bet they’re just to keep the birds off.”

On our second day there, we went to Café Du Monde which is world famous for its beignets (they’re like a French doughnut with a bunch of powdered sugar). They were so awesome. And we enjoyed these delicious beignets with my Mama’s Facebook friend, Brittney, and her two kids, Eli and Ej. Eli is my age and Ej is his older brother. We all had a wonderful time and I hope to see them soon.

Another thing we did on our second day was see a NOLA jazz band called Leroy Jones and the Preservation Masters, a great jazz band who I highly recommend. This was my first time seeing jazz live, it was so awesome and I felt like I was in one of my Daddy’s jazz albums. My favorite part was when they would stand up and go freestyle. Seeing them making that awesome music on the spot was so cool. I hope you guys will go see them too.

Alright, I hope you guys liked this telling of my time in New Orleans, Louisiana and hope you all have the most wonderful day, filled with Jazz, French Quarters, Beignets and Mama’s-friend’s-sons. Goodbye!
